This year I collected the most amount of makeup I’ve ever had. I went through a ton of products this year. A bunch of hates but a ton of loves. I’m really thankful for all of the products I bought and were gifted to me. Regardless if it’s a $5 gift or $50 gift, it all counts significantly to me.
So first up, base products.
Product List: bareMinerals bareSkin Foundation, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Compact, Clarins True Radiance Foundation, barePro Powder Foundation , Stowaway Translucent Powder, juice Beauty Cream Blush
I’ve written reviews for most of these products already like the Clarins, barePro and Giorgio Armani. Overall for the foundations, they all have great coverage that can be layered really well. I wear the bareMinerals products when I want a my skin but better kind of look. They look insanely natural for me personally. The Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Compact is more of a light coverage for the days I don’t want makeup but I need a bit of even coverage. The Clarins is meant for my higher coverage, more special event type of days.
The Stowaway Translucent Powder is perfect for setting under the eyes. I also use a bit on my T-Zone to prevent any major shine. The juice Beauty Cream Blushis amazing. It’s the perfect shade for my tanner complexion, and since it’s so creamy it doesn’t make you look cakey at all.
For eye products, I’ve mentioned before that I don’t use many eye products, but these are a few essentials.
Product List: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel, Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo, Jane Iredale Smooth Affair for Eyes, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, COVER FX Correct Click Corrector
For brows, most days I just skip them altogether because they don’t need much work thankfully. They’re already pretty bushy, but when I get them threaded some spots tend to look sparse so I put a bit of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo on. Then I just set it all in place with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel. As for eyeliner, I’m terrible at applying it, but this Kat Von D Tattoo Liner is insanely easy to use. I highly recommend it for any beginners. The COVER FX Correct Click Corrector in orange is what I use before my under-eye concealer. It really helps if you have really bad dark circles. The Jane Iredale is my go-to eye shadow product. I hate using tons of eyeshadows, so a creamy shadow is my #1. I have a full review on this here!
Now for primers. I get tired of these the most. Some of these only work for certain types of foundations so that’s kind of meh. Products: Hourglass Ambient Light Correcting Primer, MAKE UP FOR EVER Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer, COVER FX Illuminating Primer
I have a full review of the Hourglass primer here, but recently I’ve noticed that if you have really dry skin which I’ve been having due to harsh winds, it makes your skin look terrible. I would only reccomned this if your skin is properly hydrated. The COVER FX Illuminating Primer was one I got only recently but I really love the glow it gives you from under your foundation. It’s subtle but still noticeable. The MAKE UP FOR EVER Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer is a multi-use primer. I find that I can use this for any formulation of foundation and it doesn’t make your skin flake up at all. My new favorite primer I would say.
Next, Lips. This year I finally got into liquid lipsticks and I’ve tried basically all of the ones out there and these are my two favorites. Product List: Mary Jo K Lip Kit, ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip, Givenchy Rouge Interdit Vinyl Color Enhancing Lipstick
I could honestly say that if you want a good liquid lip, just go for Colourpop. The colors are basically the same and the wear/formulation is too similar. One Kylie liquid lip individually is $17 while a Colourpop is only $6. I’ve been using Colourpop’s Avenue for about a month and its basically the same as Kylie’s new shade Merry. I actually prefer the Colourpop formulas. As for regular lipsticks, I’ve been loving this Givenchy Lipstick. It adds the perfect amount of color to the lips while moisturizing at the same time. I hate those lipsticks that are insanely drying.
As for my favorite perfume of the year, I have an entire blog post about it here!
It has a mature peony, floral scent which is perfect for any season!
It’s been a great year for me personally, and I hope we all have the best year so far for 2017!
